op Rank and ESPN are banking on WBO welterweight champion Terence Crawford (33-0, 24 KO), and it starts with this matchup against Benavidez.
Undefeated 26-year-old Jose Benavidez Jr. (26-0, 17 KO) will put his undefeated record at stake as he tries to capture his first world title. Benavidez won the interim WBA Super Lightweight title after scoring a 12th-round TKO win over Jorge Paez Jr., but a win over Crawford would deliver the first real world title.
The hype machine is already spinning.
Expect Crawford to open as a big favorite over the younger challenger. This is likely just the fight built to kick off the new deal, but it seems Crawford will get an opportunity to face even bigger names that will generate even more revenue for him, the promotion and the network.
